LRC:  Students, beginning Wednesday, May 8th you will receive a weekly email from the LRC listing all of the i teams you currently have checked out, along with any overdue charges. This doesn’t not mean you are to bring all those items in immediately. Your teachers will tell you when to bring back your textbooks and chromebook. This email is making you aware of what you are responsible for returning. If you have any questions, please stop by the LRC. 

 

7th Graders:  this Friday, May 10th, is the early registration deadline for the Springfield trip.  Register by this Friday and help your social studies class earn a treat. Registration is easy - don’t delay!

 

Peer Connections:  the last meeting of the year will be held on Friday, May 10th at 3:30-4:10 in the art room. Come make a difference!

 



May 4,


Student Council: 
 there will be a meeting Monday, May 6 for all interested in running for Student Council office. The meeting is drop in, so students can still make t heir bus or game or whatever. Questions, see Mrs. Moran.


8th Grade Softball:  the team lost to McClure on Friday. The final score was 10-6. Good defense was played by Sophia Marczuk, Becky Phillips, Kate Durkin and Allison Schoeder. Kate Durkin pitched a good game as well. Park will play an away game at McClure today. Good luck girls!

 

Spirit Week May 20-24:  Monday-athletic wear, Tuesday-socks and sandals, Wednesday-advisory clone day, Thursday-wear purple, and Friday-Cubs Sox Day.

Tech Club:  meets this Thursday, 5/2  after school in the STEM lab. See you there!!

 

8th Grade Vball:  team won a hard fought match against Pleasantdale on Monday. Connor K had a great day serving and setting. Sam L. was aggressive at the net, great defense by Ricky C. and Vincent Stobart. The team is 6-0 and faces Highlands tomorrow. Wish them luck to continue their streak.

 

8th Grade Vball:  team lost their first match of the season against Highlands yesterday. Park lost a close first game but rallied in the second game to win big. The third game was within reach. Park had a 22-16 lead and lost 25-23 when Highlands served and blocked Park into submission. We will be ready for them in the tournament next weekend!

 

7th Grade Vball:  team played an awesome game against Pleasantdale for Pack the Place last night. The boys won in two games. Great passing by Zachary and Tommy. Awesome blocks by Tim and Leo P. Killer hits by Nathan and Baydfen. Great setting by Jamie, Leo D. Mark and Ryan. Super serving by Eddie and Jacob. Wish the guys luck against Highlands tonight!

 

Soccer:  Park Blue will resume their season at home against Willow Springs on Friday, May 3. Park Red will resume their season away against Washington on Monday May 6.

8th Grade Graduation Photos:   all orders must be returned to the school office or placed online by Wednesday, May 1, 2019.

 

Chorus:  resumes on Tuesday, April 30th. Bring a friend!

 

Softball:  8th grade girls defeated Gurrie Thursday. The score was 9-4. Great pitching was produced from Kate Durkin. Allison Schreoder got a triple and Kate Durkin got a homer. Sophia Marczuk played great softball in left field. Becky Philliips made a great play at shortstop. Great game Thursday and good luck next week girls.


 

April 24, 


Soccer:  the Park soccer teams competed against Highlands yesterday at Sedgwick Park. The red team was able to score off a free-kick made by Fernando Fulgencio. Er Armador, Allessandro Ortega, and Niko Sanchez are also producing strong offensive movements on the field that will lead to the team’s first win. Red will have their next game this Thursday against Pleasantdale. The blue team started off their season strong with a 5-0 win over blue. Josh Pantoja, Jonathon Urquizo, Madison Fellows and Kim Sanchez did a great holding the defensive line and make life easy for Gabbi De La Cruz in goal. Goals were scored by Belle Vessel, Preston Sieben, Jackson Romper and Muhammed. The blue team will face Westchester this Thursday. Great job Park soccer!

 

Softball:  7th grade girls softball team got a huge 1st win against a combined 6th, 7th & 8th grade Willow Springs team. Awesome effort by 1st time pitcher Isabella L, Huge swing of the bat for an inside the park homer by Norine, and solid play at 1st base by Evelyn. Shoutout to the whole team who’s bats were on fire! Way to go fgirls!

 Business Fair:  please join us at the Business Fair Tuesday, April 30th in the south gym during periods 1-6, 7-12, 16-21 and 22-27. Most items will cost between 50 cents and $3.00. See our ads n the monitors and in the second floor hallway. All proceeds will be donated to charities.

Super serving by Zachary and Mark. Killer hits by Leo P. and Nathan. Super setting by Leo D. Wish the guys luck against Gurrie tonight.

Softball:  7th & 8th grade girls softball games this afternoon (Tuesday) have been cancelled due to poor field conditions. Both teams will be practicing after school.

April 12


LRC:  now until April 26th bring in your overdue books, along with a donation for deployed soldiers to the LRC and any fines for those books will be deleted. Also, any existing fines will be eliminated for anyone with a donation. For those of you who have accumulated some hefty fines, it can be quite a savings.


The Park Connect program:   is collecting items such as -  cards, toothbrushes, toothpaste, non-perishable snacks, batteries and more to send to soldiers protecting our country. Let’s show them our support AND wipe out your overdue fines. These special “deals” are only for April 8th-April 26th. If you have any questions, please stop by the LRC. Dig down to the bottom of your locker and return that overdue book! 

 

7th Grade Softball:  lost a hard fought game against Westchester yesterday. Unreal defense from Estelle, Sophie and Rebecca. Solid plays by Ava and Evelyn. Speedy base running by Isabella L. Madison and Morgan and great catches by Addison and Aralize. Way to go girls! 

 

Red Soccer:  played their first game of the season against Willow Springs yesterday. They finished the game 1-1 but fell short in the shootouts. Allesandro O. scored 1 goal. Ellie M. earned 1 assist. Josh V. played a solid half while in goal. Both teams resume their season next against Gurrie on Monday.

 

8th Grade Boys Volleyball:  won an easy match against Westchester yesterday. The front row was dominated by the blocking of Carter R., Sam L. and Chris F. Serving runs by Ricky C., Declan Q. and Tommy H. boosted the team for Park and Connor K. and Declan had some nice kills behind the setting of John M. and Vincent S. Nice win guys!

April 8

 

Soccer:  all players must provide coaches with a grade update by Wednesday, 4/10. You may print it out or email a screenshot to your coaches. Red team plays their first game this Thursday on 4/11. Go Patriots!

 

Kandemir Scholarship:  this year nineteen students applied for the Emily Asli Kandemir Scholarship award. The winners of this year’s Kandemir Scholarship are Angus Allan and Lily Akalaitis. Bravo! Congratulations to you both!

It would be great if everyone brought  back a couple of items after break to put in the collection boxes. They are located in the office and LRC.

 

7th & 8th Vball players:  players need to return their washed uniform to their coach ASAP. 

 

Park Tutors:  will meet today. We will meet by the from office then walk our elementary students to the LRC.

 8th Grade Graduation Photos:  Van Gogh School Photographers will be at Park on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. Boys -  should wear a shirt and tie. Sport coats, suits or sweaters are optional. Girls - should avoid high neck dresses. . All students will be photographed against a green screen. Please avoid wearing shades of green. Dress clothes poses will be taken as well as graduation gown poses. Please be aware that slacks and skirts will show in some posing. No payment is needed at this time. Proofs will be sent home for your approval. There are NO RETAKES.

 

7th Grade Blue Ball:  practice rescheduled for tomorrow at 7:30am.

Spring Break Spirit Week:  Monday-hat day; Tuesday-sunglasses day; Wednesday-pajama day; Thursday-vacation t-shirt; Friday-Hawaiian day.

 

Girls Softball:  day 1 of tryouts are today, March 18th in the south gym. Please change into your PE uniform or athletic clothes and meet in the south gym. Don’t forget your signed waiver, glove, and print out of your grades. The LRC is closed after school, so make sure you print them earlier.

 

Soccer:  practice will be indoors today after school. Check-in in the cafeteria. You must submit a grade update and tryout waive to stay. All other remaining paperwork and online payments are due before Spring break on Thursday, 3/21. Any questions, contact the coaches. 

 

Spanish Club:  thanks you for helping color the world with the Pulsera Project. Together, we raised $1,415 dollars. Way to know it out of the park! 

 

7th Grade Girls Vball:  won both games at Saturday’s tournament. Great serving by Maddie, Emma, Annabelle, and Abby S. user net play by Josie, Julie and Norine. Awesome passes by Kate, Cat and Izzie. Come watch the championship game against Pleasantdale tomorrow night at LT north at 6:30!

 

Volleyball:  the 7th grade red team played a tough match against blue on Saturday. The team took both games to within 5 points and played extremely well. Great season girls. Shout out to the team:  outsides-Gabby, Josie, Isabella and Estelle. Middles-Mia, Eva and Rafaela. Setter:  Cassidy. A special thank you from Coach Johnson to our  amazing captains, Aliana and Evie and to our supportive and dedicated manager, Addison. 

 

8th Grade Blue Vball:  congrats on  their wins against Westchester and McClure to put them in the championship game against Pleasantdale. In both games Katie Debs had amazing serving runs, giving the team leads, and putting them back in the game. Ally Cesarini also had amazing serves with 13 straight serves in a row. Taylor Fergon, Lauren Kudia and Mia Stobart had incredible saves, not even thinking of letting the ball touch the ground. Bess Bezanis, Ava Wright and NaKiyah Robertson had hard kills, smashing the ball in their opponents faces. Great job ladies and everyone come to the championship game at LT north campus at 7:30pm tomorrow night against Pleasantdale.

Soccer:  Please be sure to sign up onto the Google Classroom by this week. Our first eligibility check is the Wednesday, 3/13. 7th grade:  send grade updates to Mr. Padilla. 8th grade:  send grade updates to Mr. Varela. You can bring them out or email a screenshot. You may not attend our first practice Monday, 3/18 without a grade update! All remaining paperwork and online payments are due before Spring Break on Thursday, 3/21. We will not keep you on the roster if anything is missing! Any questions, contact the coaches.


Park Book Club:  Please check the Book Club classroom for an important message about Thursday's Battle of the Books. ALL Book Club members are eligible to attend the Battle beginning at 9:00am on Thursday. Questions, stop by the LRC.

Box Tops:  Congratulations to Mrs. Mieszala's advisory class that won the box top contest with 331 box tops! Their advisory will get the special treat! Although there is only one winner we would like to thank the next two highest advisories. Your efforts will go to good use. Mrs. Wolf's advisory came in second with 161 box tops and Mrs. Campos advisory came in third with 154 box tops. Thank you to everyone who turned in. It is very appreciated!

Connect:  is sponsoring a fundraiser for deployed soldiers. We would like to thank them for their service and show our appreciation by sending them some comfort and needed items like cards, tooth brushes, tooth paste, non-perishable snacks, and batteries.  See more items on lists around the school. Our donation boxes will be in the main office and LRC. We will be sending the boxes out around May 3rd. Let's all chip in and show our Park spirit, pride and generosity and give these soldiers a taste of home while they are so far away. Feel free to also drop a note of thanks in the boxes.


Boys Volleyball:  Informational Meeting on Monday, March 18th at 8:00am. 7th grade meets in room 117 and 8th grade meets in room 300. Any questions, please see Mr. Neitzel or Ms. Hinders.

 Soccer:  Thinking about Park soccer this Spring? Let the coaches know! It's easy. Just sign up on you Chromebook by submitting a Soccer Survey found on your homepage anytime before Friday, March 8th. Then, come attend the after school info meeting in 2 weeks on Friday, March 8th in the cafeteria. Here, all players will receive paperwork and info needed to officially join the team.

 

7th & 8th Girls Softball:  Tryouts will be held Monday, March 18th and Tuesday, March 19th after school. You will need a signed parent waiver and a glove. Please see Ms. Miglio with any questions. Hope to see you there.

 

7th Grade Blue Vball:  Congratulations with the win against Highlands last night. Great serves by Abby Markworth, Josie Menna and Abby Saunders. Great passes and hits by Cat Niego and Maggie Kashmarik. Great job Park! Good luck against Washington tonight!

 

8th Grade Blue Vball:  team squeaked by Highlands yesterday winning in 3 hard fought games. Park lost the first game but in the second game Kennedy Clarke and Ava Wright had had 13 kills between them. Kennedy made the game winning serve and Park was ready to fight for the win at all costs.  Ally Cesarini launched herself into the bench after a ball and Cate Busby took control at the serving line. Great win girls!

 

Park Tutors:  will meet on Tuesday and Thursdays. We will meet by the front office then walk our elementary students to the LRC. As always, thank you for volunteering. You are appreciated!

7th Grade Blue Volleyball:  The team defeated Willow springs yesterday in a strong game. Super sets by Abby M and Cat Killer serves by Maggie and Norine. Come watch the girls play tomorrow at our Park the Place against Gurrie. 


8th Grade Blue Volleyball:  Better than you Bess served like Jagger as well as Aggressive Ally and No Mercy Na'Kiyah and Killer Kamryn. Machine Gun Merritt, Mamma Mia and Audacity Ava get great passes playing defense. Did you hear that Tears in My Eyes Taylor and Legendary Lauren played as attackers? Great job ladies and be sure to come to the game tomorrow home against Gurrie! 


Feb 26:  


8th Grade Blue Volleyball:  team beat the Park Red team in two games yesterday. Park blue had trouble in the first game but pulled out the win with some good serving from Killer Kamryn. In the second game, Na'Kiyah Robinson started with some power serves. Ava Wright had some nice kills, Cate Busby looked great on offense but Kennedy Clarke was the finishing touch that lead the team to victory with the last 8 serves of the game. 


7th and 8th VBall:   The 7th grade red and blue volleyball teams played a fun game against each other last night. The blue team won with great playing all around by both teams. Great work ladies!

 

Yearbook:  Committee meets Thursday after school in room 225. Come for the fun!  


Feed My Children:  If you received a field trip permission slip for "Feed My Children"  you must turn it in by Wednesday, Feb. 27th.

 

Feb 25: 


Run for 102:  Calling al park student runners and fast walkers! This year the annual Run for 102 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run will b on Sunday, May 19th at 8am. If you sign up by this coming Thursday, Feb. 28th there is a $10 discount. Write it down now in your calendar...sign up by this Thursday, Feb. 28th so that you can get $10 off the entrance fee. It doesn't matter if you are a fast walker or a slow runner, everyone is invited to participate. There is both a 1 Mile Fun Run and 5K.

Service Club:  Meets Monday, today in the LRC. New members always welcome. As always, thanks for your service.


IIntramurals:  Weight training will be on Tuesday, the 25th with Mr. Metz.

Book Club:  Thursday, Feb. 21st, we will hold our school battle to determine who will represent Park in the Big Battle. We will try and begin as close to 3:30pm as possible, so head down to the LRC right at the last bell. 

 

 If you normally ride the bus, there is a chance we will not be done in time to catch the late bus. Please make other arrangements. If you can't make other arrangements, let your teammates know you'll be leaving the group at 4:10pm to catch the late bus.

 

Service Club:  A place where students can make a difference! If Service Club meets on a Monday or Friday, we will meet in room 119. If it meets Tuesday or Thursday, we will meet in room 301. March - Friday, 3/8 and Monday, 3/18; April - Monday, 4/8 and Thursday, 4/25; May -  Monday, 5/6 and Tuesday, 5/21.

7th Grade Blue Vball:  the 7th grade girls blue volleyball team won their game against Westchester last night 25-15 and 25-0. Shout out to Maggie, who killed it with her srves and Cat to finish out the game. Keep playing hard girls! 

 

7th Grade Rd Vball:  Congratulations to the 7th grade red team with their defeat over Willow Springs at yesterday's Pack the Place. Many great plays were made by members of the team. Amazing serves by Aliana. Evie and Cassidy were strong as setters. Hard hits by Mia and Rafaela who rocked the court. Tips at the net by Eva were effective. Super digs by Gabby and Regan from  the back row.  Josie and Estelle also had amazing passes. A shoutout goes to Molly Ryan for playing - even with an injured ankle. Way to go girls. Next game is Friday away at Washington. Go Red!

Feb. 19:  


Red Vball Pack the Place:  Today is the red volleyball Pack the Place after school! They should come by for snacks, a serving contest, prizes and of course a great game!


Park Ambassadors:  We will be having our second trimester meeting on Wednesday morning at 7:50am in room 308. See Ms. Sirus or Mrs. McGovern if you have questions.


BoxTops:  The end of the trimester is approaching; the final collection for this trimester’s box tops will be on Wednesday, the 27th. We will ask on that day that is your advisory has any box tops to bring them down to the main office. Make sure your advisory’s name is on it. You still have a little time to ask your parents and family to save their box tops for you to win a sweet treat for your whole advisory. Good luck!


 

Feb. 14: 


Student Council:  Valentine's Day sales at lunch. Lollipops, candy bracelets and stress toys ranging from 25 cents to $1.00 Student Council will be selling them at lunch.


7th Grade Blue Volleyball: The 7th grade girls blue volleyball team beat McClure yesterday 27-7 and 25-16. Killer serves by Abby Saunders, Abby Markworth and Julia Senffner. Great games ladies and good luck against Pleasantdale tomorrow! 


8th Grade Blue Volleyball:  team won their second match of the season against defending champion McClure. Cate B and Kamryn LC powered the team with 23 serves between them. Great setting by Ally and Mia, super defense by Cate, Taylor and Kamryn. Great win girls!

Spanish Club:  Hola chicos! Spanish Club will meet next week on Thursday, February 21st at 3:30pm in room 200A. Sign up with Mrs. Abraham, Mrs. Mieszala, or Mrs. Nemickas if you’re planning to attend! Hasta el jueves!

 

Book Club:  will meet before school Wednesday Feb 13th at 7:45 in the LRC. We will be practicing battle questions for our school battle scheduled on Feb 21st at 3:30. The school battle will determine who will represent Park in the battle against McClure, Currie, Pleasantdale, and Highlands. Also, T-shirts for the battle are in. Pick your’s up in the LRC. Remember, our next meeting is Wednesday, February 13th at 7:45 in the LRC!

Mighty Patriots:  Feb. 8th was the annual Heros vs. Heros game and the Mighty Patriots won with an awesome score of 58-39. Mykel, Hector and Ramsey were our leading scorers. Alex, Nevaeh and Ashton had amazing defense and Hailey, Jonathan and Andrew got lots of rebounds. Owen, Zoe and Armin passed it around to make sure everyone got the ball. Aaron, Logan and Viktor had great sportsmanship. Great game Patriots!

Talent Show:  Due to the cancellation of after school activities today, the Talent Show auditions will be rescheduled. The new date for auditions will be moved to Monday, February 4th, so if you have not yet turned in an audition form and are interested in performing, there's still time!!

 

Science Expo:  Congratulations to the following Park students who have earned blue ribbons for their Science Expo projects! They will be competing at the Regional Science Fair at Brookfield Zoo in February. 7th Grade Basketball:  team defeated McClure last night at LT to win the Hodgkins Tournament. The Patriots finished the season with a 22-1 record and also won the conference championship. Team members include Jimmy Pajauskas, Theo Sullivan, Ryan Good, Ryan Jackson, Michael Reilly, Jack Cheney, Luke Wehling, Collin Sullivan, James Villanueva, Leo Perez, Michael Mango and Eddie Tuerk. All team members should be proud of their hard work and accomplishments this year. Special shout out to the cheerleaders and super fans, Ms. Miglio, Ms. Malloy and Mr. Varela. Thanks for your support all season!

Owen and Aaron had great hustle and Logan, Armin and Hector had great teamwork. Great job Patroits.

7th Grade Blue Basketball Team:  closed out the regular season with a 36-16 win over George Washington. The win made the Patriots a perfect 15-0 in the conference. Next up is the Hodgkins tournament, which begins on Saturday. Congrats on a great regular season to all team members.

Viktor, Jonathan, Andrew and Zoe had great defense and Armin and Owen showed awesome hustle. Naveah and Aaron had outstanding team work, while Logan, Ashton and Hailey got so many rebounds.

Mighty Patriots:  crushed their opponents Brooks Middle School with a final score of 68-41. Our top scorers were Owen with 14 points, Hector with 12 points and Logan with 10. Zoe, Naveah, Mykel, and Victor had amazing defense on Thursday. Armin, Andrew and Aaron had great teamwork and getting the ball to everyone. Ramsey, Johnathan, Alex and Hailey got a bund of rebounds for our team. Great job Mighty Patriots!

 

LRC:  will be closed after school on Friday, Dec. 14th. We will reopen to students before school on Monday, 12/17.

7th Grade Basketball:  defeated Gurrie last night 38-6. Eddie Tuerk led the way with 8 points, while Ryan Jackson chipped in with 6. Luke Wehling hit a big 3 pointer in the second quarter, and Michael Mango played excellent defense throughout the game. Next game is today at Highlands. 

 

Mighty Patriots:  played their best against Cicero Middle School and managed to tie the game at 26 to 26. Ramsey hit the buzzer beating shot to tie the game. Zoe and Alex had amazing defense and Armin was hustling up and down the court. Andrew, Mykal, Aaron, and Viktor had great teamwork and made sure everyone got a lot of rebounds. Logan and Naveah had good sportsmanship and everyone had a great game. Good luck next time!

 

National Geographic Bee:  comes to Park Jr. High on Thursday, December 20. In November, Park students participated in preliminary levels of the nations-wide contrast of geography knowledge in their Social Studies classes. The TOP 12 will compete in the final round on Dec. 20th and the Park champion will be named. This student will be eligible to compete in the state-level National Geographic Bee in Springfield in March, and perhaps the nationals in Washington, D.C. in May. Too prize is a $50,000 scholarship. Good luck to the finalists!

 

 

Box Tops:  we are still collecting box tops. The next advisory winner will be at the end of the trimester, Feb. 2nd. So tell your family toy look out for boxtops on products over winter break.

Service Club:  Please help the Service Club decorate our tree with new hats, scarves, and mittens in ALL sizes from children to adults. The Giving Tree is located near the cafeteria. It is up and ready for putting items on it from Wednesday, Dec. 5th through Wednesday, Dec. 19th. All items will go to local families in need.

 

Chorus:  meets today after school. it is essential that all students singing in the winter concert attend.

Mighty Patriots:  dominated in the Pack the Place game against LT. The final score was 44 to 28. Logan led the team when he scored 12 points. Alex gave our team the chance to score by stealing the ball 3 times. Mykel had great team work and ball movement and passed it 11 times. Our entire team worked hard and had great hustle to put out a win for our team.

The 7th grade blue basketball team defeated Washington last night 27-10. Jimmy Pajauskas led the way with 13 points, and Ryan Jackson added 4. Excellent pressure defense led to 17 first quarter points. Next home game is Thursday against Pleasantdale.

The first session is Thursday, Dec. 6th in the LRC. A Math teach recommendation is required. Sign ups forms are available in the main office.

Your attendance makes a difference to our team so come on Tuesday, Dec. 4th and bring a friend!

Thanksgiving Break Spirit Week:  Monday-Western Day, Tuesday-World Kindness Day/Crazy Sock Day, Wednesday-wear neon, Thursday-Sports Day, Friday-Pajama Day.

 

Service Club:  There are still 4 days left in Service Club’s Clothes Drive for Hope Chest that benefits the Constant Morris house. We are looking for gently used purses, scarves, jewelry and ladies clothes. The drive ends on Thursday, November 15th. Kindness week is the perfect opportunity to shine and put in the effort of bringing in these items that through the Hope Chest sore will truly make a difference for families in need.  

 

Book Club:   will meet Wednesday during lunches in the LRC. Stop by the lunchroom and let a supervisor know you are coming to Book Club. Then grab your lunch and head  to the LRC. Book Club is open to all Park students. New members are always welcome.

If your like playing video games - you won’t want to miss this opportunity. Girls Basketball Pack The Place!! October 18th at 4:00pm! Come support the 7th & 8th grade girls at their game in the north gym agains Washington! 

 

7th & 8th Grade Boys Basketball Tryouts:  will begin on Monday, Oct. 22nd from 3:30 - 5:30pm. Please bring a signed waiver and a printed copy of your grades to try out. All students must meet grade eligibility requirements in order to try out. Questions, please see Mr. Malloy, Mr. Metz, Mr. Regan or Ms. Sirus.

 

Yearbook:  committee meets this Thursday after school in Room 225.

 

LRC:  will be closed before and after school on Tuesday. We will also not be open to students during the day. Students will be asked to walk around the LRC during the day. Only students traveling to the Shakespeare room and rooms 216 & 218 will be allowed to walk through. The LRC will reopen on Wednesday morning at 7:30am.

 

Service Club:  will be on Monday, Oct. 15th. We will meet in the art room (119) at 3:30-4:10pm. New members are always welcome!

 

Poms:  Do you love dancing? Do you want to be involved in a winter activity at Park? If so, then Poms team is the activity for you! If you are interested, please come to the info meeting on Friday, Oct. 26th at 8:00am in room 117. See Mrs. Hinders with any questions.

Cheerleading Tryouts:  Informational Meeting is on Thursday, October  11th in room 116 at 7:45 A.M. Clinic:  October 18th from 3:45-5:00. Tryouts:  October 22nd after school. 

 

Tryouts will be held over two days. The materials will be taught and practiced on Thursday.  You will tryout in a small group on Monday. Please bring a printout of your current grades to the clinic and signed athletic waver.

Springfield Trip 3:  8th graders, you will receive an email early this evening with important announcements and your group list and roommates. This will be sent to your (students') email.


Box Tops:  collection is today. The final box top collection for this trimester will be November 7th. Good luck!

 

7th Grade Girls Basketball: Congrats to the team on their 18-13 win against Gurrie. The leading scorers Maggie Kachmarik with 6 pts. and Mia Moorehead with 4 pts. Caroline McKenna, Izzy Lebar, Josie Menna, and Abby Markworth contributed with 2 pts. It was a great team effort by all players. Good luck on Thursday against Willow!


8th Grade Girls Basketball:  Congratulations to the 8th grade girls' basketball team for their exciting victory over Gurrie last night. Al roster players put their hearts in the game until the final second. Excellent job to all. Coach Sirus gives the Whatever It Takes shout out to Ella Happel for giving all of herself to the team when it mattered most. Keep up the heard work, girls.

Picture Retake Day:  Reminder for absentee and new students!! Don't forget to have your picture taken! Van Gogh Studios will be here on Wednesday, October 3rd for Picture Retake Day. Retake students! If you are retaking a picture, bring in your original envelope and return it to the photographer. We will make an announcement after the morning bell,

Cross Country:  The cross country team is having a great season and features some top notch runners. The girls are led by Rebecca the Rocket Phillips, Mia Eat-My-Dust DiBraccio, Maggie Trailblazer Takash, Maddie the Motor Grayson, Reilly Pronto Post, and Mya Betcha-Can’t-Catch-Me Beck Janusiak. Leaders for the boys were Kole Buh-Bye Beck Janusiak, Connor Can’t-Catch-Me Kachmarik, Cillian Killing-It Henning, Jack Muy Rapido Meyers, Theo the Speedster Sullivan, and Vincent Vroom Vroom Stobard.


 The next meet is Thursday against McClure and Washington. Way to go runners!

Park Book Club:  The Park Book Club is getting ready to gear up for another year. How does Book Club work? Well, after reading selections from sixteen titles, two teams from Park Book Club will be chosen to attend a “Battle” against teams from McClure Jr High, Gurrie Middle School, Highlands Middle School and Pleasantdale Middle School. Book Club will meet twice a month. Our first meeting is Wednesday, September 26th at 7:45am in the LRC. Book Club is open to all students. Stop by the first meeting and see if this is for you!

Student Council:  suggestion boxes are in! Checkout Park’s newest addition to the school in the LRC, main office, or cafeteria. Suggestion boxes are where any student can drop off an idea or suggestion about school events or things in general. These suggestions will be read by the Student Council and could possibly even be added into the school! Drop off your idea or suggestion today.

Peer Connections:  is where Special Education and general education come together for a unique, fun and rewarding experience! Earn volunteer hours and make a difference. All students are welcome. Our first meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 18th in the art room. Hope to see you there!

Picture Day:  Orders can be placed online after Sept. 18th. You will have to call the main office to get your student's ticket code for ordering.

LRC:  beginning this Thursday, Sept. 13th, the LRC will be open for students at 7:30am. If you are coming to the LRC in the morning before school, please remember the following - get a LRC pass from the main door, enter the LRC through the main doors only, once you arrive in the LRC, you are to remain there until the bell rings or you are dismissed.


Service Club: Service Club has joined forces with 8th Grade Gift Committee. Our club is very excited to meet to brainstorm and plan for future service projects plus 8th grade gift ideas on Monday, Sept. 24th at 3:30-4:10pm in room 302. All 7th & 8th grade students who are interested are welcome! What an amiable way to start your school year Park. Any questions, see Mrs. Pasieka or Ms. Malloy.


Springfield Trips:  any 8th graders going on ANY of the Springfield trips - your roommate selection form is due today. If you have not yet turned this in, give it to Mrs. Krueger or Ms. Schwartz before you leave today. If you don't turn this in, we will select roommates for you.

Boys Softball:  will practice in the south gym today. Do not go to Stone & Monroe Park. Go to the south gym right after school. 


Box Tops:  Box Tops collections are starting!! It's easy! Clip them off any product and bring them into your advisory. At the end of every trimester the advisory with the most Box tops can win a special treat for the whole advisory! The first collection date of this trimester will be Wednesday, Oct. 3rd. The final box top collection for this trimester will be Wednesday, November 7th.

Boys Softball:  Boys softball will meet in the cafeteria today. Please meet right after school. We will be done in time for players to take the late bus home.

Yearbook:  Become famous! Design the from and back covers of this year’s yearbook. Turn in 8 1/2 X 11 back ink entries by Wednesday 9/5 to Mr. Atwood’s in room 225. Win $$$

Cross Country Information:  Cross Country will have an informational meeting on Tuesday, August 28th in the cafeteria after school. Students will receive a packet detailing the schedule for the season and requirements if they choose to join the team.Cross Country is open to al students and practice will start after Labor Day. Any student who can't attend the meeting should speak to Mr. Carsten or Mrs. Campo. Students w ill be able to take the late bus home from Tuesday's meeting. 


Girls Basketball:  Informational meeting Friday from 3:30-5:00pm in room 313. Tryouts will start Monday, August 27th from 3:30-5:15pm.


7th & 8th Grade Boys Softball:  will be Thursday, August 30th and Friday, August 31st. Please bring your signed tryout participation waiver and a glove. If you have any questions, contact Mr. Lockhart or Mr. Regan. Tryouts will be held on the east parking lot right after school.
